Can’t say that I got how to pick a bike out of this video, perhaps renaming it to “Identify parts of the bike” or something. Just sayin’.

They suppose to use resin when working with carbon fiber. they just use heat alone.. no wonder that stuff be breaking.

It’s a cloth until it’s heated up, then it hardens.
Comment by xtelevisionset — October 20, 2011 @ 5:39 pm
nothing is being melted; heat is applied to speed up the curing of the resin. More important in bicycle parts is that pressure is applied to force out any air bubbles that could weaken the part.

Wow! Those workers are really fast
BTW I think it’s called “baked”.
Comment by ronaldstopp — October 20, 2011 @ 6:45 pm
When you think of melting, you think of high temperatures like melting steel right?
Well carbon fiber isn’t being melt at that high of a temperature, but melts the fibers and layers together. It should be called “cooked” since they are put into ovens.
Comment by dahgutone — October 20, 2011 @ 7:17 pm
That is, carbon fiber how to melt it?
还有那里面包的是什么?
Comment by houjiangs — October 20, 2011 @ 8:03 pm
Um, and how does carbon melt?
Comment by riff42 — October 20, 2011 @ 8:33 pm
Wonderful worker safety. Let’s work with toxic uncured epoxy, and carbon fiber with no gloves. I doubt they get any health benefits either!
